About the Visualise Team
Debbie Syrop
Debbie is Project Manager for the Visualise theatre show.
She has long been fascinated by the overlap between art and science and in 2005 was awarded a British Interactive Group professional development bursary to research the ways artists have worked with science centres. A highly creative individual, she has a Masters in Innovation and Engineering Design from the University of Bath, and over 5 years experience or designing and developing interactive science exhibits and demonstration kit. As well as producing, devising and performing she sometimes finds time to do write software, do graphic design and edit video as well.
Gareth Smith
Gaz is Stage and Technical Manager for the Visualise theatre show.
Gaz Smith has been involved with science communication since 1987 when he saw, and fell in love with, his first hands-on exhibit. Since then he has worked on numerous touring and static exhibitions in the UK, various European countries
and Australia. Shortly after gaining his MSc in Science Communication, and in partnership with NoFit State Circus, he developed and toured Sci-Circus, which was a fusion of circus theatre and exploratory exhibits, all squeezed into a big top. Following on from this he was made National Coordinator of MathCymru, a Welsh Assembly Government funded initiative for popularising mathematics, a post that he held for three years before his involvement with Visualise began.
