Science Communicator (Maternity Cover)
Salary in the region £15,000 - £16,500 depending on skills and experience
science made simple is an award winning science communication company that specialises in the development and delivery of innovative science and engineering shows that are delivered in schools and at other events throughout the UK. We currently deliver about 250 shows a year to around 80,000 people.
We take pride in appointing talented and passionate presenters who have a love of science and engineering and the skills to communicate that enthusiasm to a variety of audiences.
We will shortly have a 10-month (maternity cover) vacancy for a science and engineering communicator starting in January 2009.
Your main role will be to learn at least three of our existing shows and deliver them at various venues across the UK. This will include touring for around 1 week of each month away from Cardiff, and so a clean driving licence and confidence with driving is essential. Whilst on tour your accommodation and subsistence expenses are covered (within our terms and conditions). When not touring and presenting you will be helping out with a range of general tasks to help develop and grow the business. This will mainly include help with marketing and publicity, but full training will be given for your contribution in these areas. It is anticipated that you will also be actively involved in projects where we are developing new shows.
This is an ideal post for someone in the early stages of their career with some presenting experience already and the desire to gain a broader range of skills for a future career in science communication or informal education.
