The Training Group

We are a consortium of three high profile organisations with 30 years professional experience within the field of science communication. We offer training and professional development courses for scientists, engineers, researchers, STEM practitioners and science communicators.

Core topics on the course include:

    * An overview of science communication
    * Practical activities to improve your communication skills
    * Planning and evaluating an event - considering the audience's needs
    * Knowing your audience - who they are and where to find them
    * Next steps - finding funding, information and existing initiatives

In addition you can choose optional modules from the following list to tailor the course specifically to your needs:

    * Who are the public?
    * What is best in style and approach?
    * Ideas for events and venues
    * Learning - different styles and contexts
    * Radio and TV interview practice
    * Working with the media
    * Working with schools
    * Using new media - film, blogs, podcasts etc
    * Demo to go - practical examples of simple activities

We can offer one and two-day courses, usually for organisations, depending on your requirements.

Previous clients include EPSRC (Engineering and Physics Sciences Research Council), The Institute of Physics, The Wellcome Trust, At-Bristol, Oxford University, Cardiff University, The British Council and the Science Learning Centres.
