16/09/11 Deadline for grants for Maths enrichment activies

Calling all maths teachers: are you thinking of organising a maths enrichment activity for your school?

The Royal Institution of Great Britain are offering a limited number of grants to teachers of maths to spend on enrichment and enhancement activities within their schools. Applications are closing on Friday 16 September, so be quick if you'd like to take advantage of this offer.

Each grant is for up to £500 and can be spent on activities listed in the STEM directories.

You might like to spend the money on one of our excellent maths shows developed in conjunction with the Wales Institute of Mathematics and Computational Sciences:

 - Through short films and live demonstration mathsapps, our show for key stage 3, introduces pupils to how maths can be used in the world of work and reveals that maths is used in some surprising places!

-I've Got Your Number, our show for key stage 4,pits pupils against each other in two teams and offers them a chance to win points by solving problems about statistics and probability in everyday life!

The Royal Institution welcome applications from all schools, with preference being given to state-funded schools that have not had external mathematics enrichment activities in the past two years.

The deadline for applications is Friday 16 September, 2011.

For details of how to apply for the grants please email maths@ri.ac.uk.

Good luck!
