award for Experimentation.

science made simple win Descartes PrizeWendy Sadler Descartes Prize
On
7th March Wendy Sadler was announced as a Laureate of the European
Union Descartes Prize for Science Communication. Previous winners have
included Bill Bryson and David Attenborough. From 33 entrants, there
were 10 finalists, of which just 5 were selected as Laureates. science
made simple won in the category of 'Innovative action in science
communication'.

Engineering 4 Life
The Cardiff University School of Engineering and award winning science communication company science made simple are offering a free medical engineering show to thirty schools. The show ‘From Cradle to Grave — Engineering for Life’ explores how medical engineering helps us from before we are born through to after we die.

New shows for 2006
To kick start the New Year, science made simple have developed two brand new shows.
The shows will premier in March and be available for bookings from April onwards.The shows are Bubble and Balloons, and Top Ten Myths.

Plymouth School students put on their own Science Show
Helen has been running 'Music to your Ears' workshops in schools in the Plymouth Excellence Cluster, culminating in a science fair at Plymouth University as part of National Science Week. To find out more click here.
Visualise Launch
On the 6th of December Visualise premiered at The Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff to a sold out audience of scientists, science communicators and the public. The show was a huge sucess and we are now planning the 2006 tour.
science made simple take Einstein to Ireland

science made simple in Germany
On the 13th and 14th January, science made simple took 'Music to your Ears' to Berlin for its German debut. Appearing at the World famous Urania Science Centre, Wendy Sadler worked with translator, Gerd Hombrecher to deliver four shows to around 650 people. At least 95% of the audience rated the show 'sehr gut' and sms will return to Germany in June for the Einstein festival in Potsdam.
Young Professional Physicist of the Year Award
On 20th January Wendy Sadler received this award at the Institute of Physics dinner at the Savoy in London. The award was given "for her excellent contribution to increaisng the public awareness of physics and for her outstanding community work"
New shows from last year.
Thanks to funding from the Institute of Physics we will be offering a brand new show for Einstein Year, called Einstein made simple from May onwards. The show will be for 11+ students and will look at t he science around the three main breakthroughs Einstein made in 1905.
In addition we are excited to offer a new show for KS2 students - Cartoon Science . This fun-packed show looks at the science as shown in Cartoons and demonstrates whether things work the same in the real world. The show covers areas such as forces, friction, gravity, optical illusions and combustion.
