Summer camp

Summer camp header new dates

Interactive online learning experiences for curious minds!

Award-winning education providers Living Maths (South Africa) and Science Made Simple (UK) join forces to host a 3-day camp of online inspiration and exploration to raise your kids’ aspirations.

The camp provides the opportunity for your kids to re-engage with science and maths in an informal and dynamic learning environment.

What is it?

The camp will run online through Zoom over 3 afternoons (1pm to 5pm) and will consist of a mix of live hands-on science activities, maths puzzles and challenges, problem solving tasks, group work and special guests.

Each camp member will receive a kit list in advance to gather some household items together each day for the experiments. Most of these things will be around your home (eg cups, water, rubber bands) so we don’t anticipate anyone having to rush to the shops!

Sessions are facilitated live with Steve Sherman and Wendy Sadler online at all times – no pre-recorded material will be used. Steve and Wendy will be responding to the interests of the group and adapting the content according to their ideas. This can’t be achieved with a YouTube video. Places are limited to help create a good interactive environment of personal engagement, with lots of opportunity for members to contribute.

When is it?

  • Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th August 2020
  • 1pm – 5pm UK time (GMT+1)  each day.
  • Breaks (10 mins) are scheduled every 45-50 mins and we will include activities that require moving around the home and/or away from the computer to keep us all active.

Equipment needed

Your child will need access to a laptop, PC or tablet that can run the zoom app (free to download). A pair of headphones is not essential but useful if joining the camp from a room where others are working. Some of the quizzes are easier to join in if there is also access to the web on a mobile phone but your child can join via other platforms if needed. We will explain how as we go along.

Cost

  • £99 for all three days. Four hours of activity each day
  • Early bird offer – those signing up before 10th August will also receive an awesome digital microscope to clip onto a phone from the the lovely people at The Curiosity Box (worth £9.50).
  • Special offer for families – two children aged 8-12 yrs can attend for a single fee as long as they are sharing their device and Zoom connection and they both have the required equipment.

If you have any questions or would like further info please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us.

Money back guarantee

We appreciate this is a difficult time for many parents and you may feel reluctant to invest upfront so we are offering peace of mind with the promise of a full refund if you decide at the end of the first day that this camp is not suited to your child.
